Review: Lover Avenged by JR Ward

Lover Avenged by JR Ward
Caldwell, NY, has long been the battleground for the vampires and their enemies, the Lessening Society. It’s also where Rehvenge has staked out his turf as a drug lord and owner of a notorious nightclub that caters to the rich and heavily armed. His shadowy reputation is exactly why he’s approached to kill Wrath, the Blind King, and leader of the Brotherhood.

Rehvenge has always kept his distance from the Brotherhood, even though his sister is married to a member. Because he’s a symphath, his identity is a deadly secret- the revelation of which will result in his banishment to a colony for sociopaths. And as plots within and outside the Brotherhood take their toll against Rehvenge, he turns to the only source of light in a darkening world- Ehlena, a vampire untouched by the corruption that has its hold on him- and the only thing standing between him and eternal destruction.

A Spoiler free review....
OK here it goes.... Hold on to you seatbelts your in for a bumpy ride! :O)
Lover Avenged is a wonderful roller coaster of a ride!! I loved each and every page. There was never a point in Lover Avenged that I was tempted to skip forward a single word. I thought this book was excellent. The pacing was very good and really advanced the story-line arc.
Rehevenge the Symphath has always been a complex character. He is good (brother, son), bad (drug dealer, murderer, all around hard ass), loyal (friend, employer) but newly added to the list is a kind and sympathetic lover! Rehevenge has always thought he would never deserve to be loved.
Ehlena is a good person. She is a kind, thoughtful daughter and nurse. Her life has not been an easy one. With her fathers illness and reversal of fortune. She fines it very hard to find time or the energy to have a social life.
All Vampire's know the law that any Symphath has to be reported and sent to the Symphath colony, as soon as they are found out in the Vampire socity.
We get to see many more of our favorites than we have in some of the other books. Wrath,Beth, Thorment, Lassiter, John Mathew, Xhex and iAm. There was a very good balance of story lines. Ms Ward has her Bro banter down to an art form. As well as more of Lash and his new found evil strength.
It has also set up the next book in the series, Lover Mine - John Matthews book, and OMG I can not wait.

I give Lover Avenged YYYYY outta 5 Y's Tis Awesomeness!! My first perfect read of 2009.

Waiting on Wednesday

Hummm My ,Waiting on Wednesday s Dead and Gone (Sookie Stackhouse, Book 9)

From the Publisher
For Sookie Stackhouse, the day to day activities of the vampire and were communities in and around Bon Temps, Louisiana, are of vital interest, She's blood-bound to the leader of the vamps, a friend to the local were pack, works for a man who is shifter, and has a brother who is a were-panther…
But for most of the humans in Bon Temps, the vamps are mysterious seductive creatures-and they don't even know about the weres.
Until now. The weres and shifters have finally decided to follow the lead of the undead and reveal their existence to the ordinary world.
At first it seems to go well. Then the mutilated body of a were-panther is found in the parking lot of the bar where Sookie works. The victim is someone she knows, so she feels compelled to discover who-human or otherwise-did the deed.
But what she doesn't realize is that there is a far greater danger than the killer threatening Bon Temps. A race of unhuman beings--older, more powerful and far more secretive than vampires or werewolves-- is preparing for war. And Sookie will find herself an all-too human pawn in their battle…

Rule #3: Don't stare at invisible faeries.
Aislinn has always seen faeries. Powerful and dangerous, they walk hidden in mortal world. Aislinn fears their cruelty—especially if they learn of her Sight—and wishes she were as blind to their presence as other teens.
Rule #2: Don't speak to invisible faeries.
Now faeries are stalking her. One of them, Keenan, who is equal parts terrifying and alluring, is trying to talk to her, asking questions Aislinn is afraid to answer.
Rule #1: Don't ever attract their attention.
But it's too late. Keenan is the Summer King who has sought his queen for nine centuries. Without her, summer itself will perish. He is determined that Aislinn will become the Summer Queen at any cost—regardless of her plans or desires.
Suddenly none of the rules that have kept Aislinn safe are working anymore, and everything is on the line: her freedom; her best friend, Seth; her life; everything.
Faerie intrigue, mortal love, and the clash of ancient rules and modern expectations swirl together in Melissa Marr's stunning 21st century faery tale

SOME NIGHTMARES NEVER END.
For Janie and Cabel, real life is getting tougher than the
dreams. They're just trying to carve out a little (secret) time together, but no such luck.
Disturbing things are happening at Fieldridge High, yet nobody's talking. When Janie taps into a classmate's violent nightmares, the case finally breaks open — but nothing goes as planned. Not even close. Janie's in way over her head, and Cabe's shocking behavior has grave consequences for them both.
Worse yet, Janie learns the truth about herself and her ability — and it's bleak. Seriously, brutally bleak. Not only is her fate as a dream catcher sealed, but what's to come is way darker than she'd feared....

A surprise on the inside of Fragile Eternity

Melissa Marr Writes:
And I can finally share what's under the dust jacket . . . On the LEFT is the outside cover, and on the RIGHT is the image printed on the book itself. It's the "surprise" when you take the cover off.

I have to say that I think her covers are some of the Prettiest I have ever seen! Thanks again to Nancy for getting me to read this series!

Leather Wearing Angels on Motorcycles *JR WARD*
Shot out to
Brie at Musing of a Bibliophile for posting the cover for Covet, the first book in J.R. Ward's new series about fallen angels who ride Harleys.Coming from Signet on September 29. This book is almost 600 pages!
Here is the only blurb I could find for it
J.R. Ward says: October 31st, 2008 at 10:20 am
Hi AY!
And Anita I couldn’t keep the secret any longer! The new series is in paperback out October 2009! COVET: A Novel of the Fallen Angels is the first of the books and let’s just say it’s all about angels and Harleys and evil and redemption. The tag line’s Destiny’s a witch and then you die… but love always brings you back. I’m reallly excited! At this point we’re going to be designing a whole new website and there’ll be another message board (which will link to the BDB). Basically it is 7 novels that the Warden calls the seven deadly sins.

One can only wonder if the series will captivate us as much as the Brotherhood has? I for one think it will. The WARDen is da-bomb.

Teaser Tuesday part Deux!

Ok the idea is to grab the book you are reading and randomly open it to a page... then post the line you first see.
OK here it goes page 170
Ashlinn too his hand in hers and squeezed. "I trust you. Keenan.Even if you had--" she blushed "--changed my clothes. I know you wouldn't ever hurt me on purpose."
And it was true. She might feel uncomfortable with their closeness and be discomforted with his attentiveness, but she didn't think he's maneuver her into anything she didn't want or take advantage of her. She's thought that of him when she didn't know him, but in her heart of hearts she believed differently now . Donia was wrong.
