Hunted Countdown~

Waiting on Wednesday.....

My Waiting on Wednesday this week is
Lover Avenged by Jr Ward.
Caldwell, NY, has long been the battleground for the vampires and their enemies, the Lessening Society. It’s also where Rehvenge has staked out his turf as a drug lord and owner of a notorious nightclub that caters to the rich and heavily armed. His shadowy reputation is exactly why he’s approached to kill Wrath, the Blind King, and leader of the Brotherhood.
Rehvenge has always kept his distance from the Brotherhood, even though his sister is married to a member. Because he’s a symphath, his identity is a deadly secret- the revelation of which will result in his banishment to a colony for sociopaths. And as plots within and outside the Brotherhood take their toll against Rehvenge, he turns to the only source of light in a darkening world- Ehlena, a vampire untouched by the corruption that has its hold on him- and the only thing standing between him and eternal destruction.
There is no doubt in my mind if you read the first two exerpts of Lover Avenged you will be hooked.
This is a small part of the second exerpt...
How are you this evening?” she said as she forced herself to look the patient in the eye.
The instant his amethyst stare met hers, she had no idea what had come out of her mouth.
Rehvenge son of Dragor sucked the thought right out of her head until nothing mattered except for those flashing purple eyes of his.
He was a cobra, this male, mesmerizing because he was deadly and because he was beautiful. With his cropped dark mohawk and his hard, smart face and his huge body, he was sex and power and unpredictability all wrapped up in . . . well, a black pinstriped suit that clearly had been made for him.
“I’m tight, thank you,” he said, his voice much deeper than the average male’s. Much deeper than most oceans, it seemed. “And you?”
He smiled a little, because he was fully aware that none of the nurses liked being in the same enclosed space with him, and evidently he enjoyed the fact that he made them all uncomfortable.
At least that was how she read his expression.
She put his chart down on the desk and took her stethoscope out of her pocket. “I’m very well.”
“You sure about that?”
“Yes.” She turned toward him. “I’m going to take your blood pressure and your heart rate.”
“My temperature, too.”
“Do you want me to open my mouth now?”
Ehlena’s skin flushed, and she told herself it was not because that drawl of his made the question sexual. “Er— No.”
Rehvenge’s shoulders rolled as he removed his suit jacket, and, with a lazy flick of the hand, he tossed the thing onto the sable coat that was carefully draped over a chair. He always had a coat like that with him no matter the season. Usually he wore them, but not always.
They were worth more than the house Ehlena rented. Apiece.
His long fingers went to the diamond cuff link on his right wrist.
“Could you please do that on the other side?” She nodded toward the wall she would have to squeeze against. “More space for me on your left.”
He hesitated, then went to work on his opposite sleeve. Rolling the black silk up past his elbow and onto his thick bicep, he kept his arm turned in.
Ehlena took the blood pressure equipment from a drawer and ripped it open as she approached him. Touching him was always an experience, and she rubbed her hand on her hip to get ready.
When she clasped his wrist, the current that licked up her arm landed in her heart, making her think of that coffee she’d just downed. It was as if the male carried an electrical charge in his body, and considering that those eyes of his alone were enough to distract the hell out of her, the voltage routine didn’t help.
Damn it, where was her usual detachment. . . .Even with him, she was able to keep straight and do her job.
Kicking herself into professional gear, she moved his arm into position, brought the cuff up and— “Good . . . Lord.”
The veins running through the crook of his elbow were decimated from overuse, swollen, black and blue, as ragged as if he’d been using nails, not tiny needles, on himself.
Her eyes shot to his. “You must be in such pain.”
“Doesn’t bother me.”
Tough guy. Like she was surprised? “Well, I can understand why you wanted to come in tonight.” She gently prodded at a red line that was traveling up his arm, heading in the direction of his heart. “There are signs of infection.”
“I’ll be fine.”
All she could do was raise her eyebrows. Given how calm he was, clearly he was clueless as to the implications of sepsis.
Death would not look good on him, she thought for no particular reason.
Elhena shook her head. “Let’s take your reading on the other arm. And I’m going to have to ask you to take your shirt off. The doctor’s going to want to see how far up your arm that infection goes.”
His mouth lifted in a smile as he reached for his top button. “My pleasure.”
Ehlena looked away fast.
“I’m not shy,” he said in that low voice of his. “You can watch if you like.”
“No, thank you.”
“Pity.” In a darker tone, he added, “I wouldn’t mind you watching.”
I want this book NOW! Go Forth and Pre Order!!

Waiting on Wednesday........

Jill over at Breaking the Spine started and I found it on the Ravenous Reader blog. I agree it is a great idea. This blog post is to alert those that visit about "the" book that we cannot wait to get our hands on.

This week my Wating on Wendesday
The Immortal Hunter By Lynsay Sands
Even vampires need a vacation. But Decker Argeneau's ends abruptly when he's asked to help hunt the group of rogue vampires targeting mortals -- one that might include a defector in his own family. Before he can worry about that, though, he's got to rescue the latest victim. It's all part of the job, including taking a bullet for a beautiful doctor.
Dr. Danielle McGill doesn't know if she can trust the man who just saved her life. There are too many questions, such as what is the secret organization he says he's part of, and why do his wounds hardly bleed? However, with her sister in the hands of some dangerous men, she doesn't have much choice but to trust him.
Except now Decker's talking about life mates and awakening a passion that's taking Dani beyond anything she's ever known. Being undead may not be half-bad...especially if it means spending forever with a man who would love her with his mind, body, and immortal soul.
Due out March 31 2009.

Review: Stakes and Stilletto's

Here is My Review of Stakes & Stilettos (Immortality Bites #4) Stakes & Stilettos by Michelle Rowen

Newly vamped Sarah Dearly wants her normal life back, but fate is fighting against her. She tries to get a regular job and gets staked in the interview, only to be rescued by a masked vampire who calls himself the Red Devil. Then a wallflower-turned-witch curses her, making her a bloodthirsty, sun-allergic nightwalker--the worst vampire there is. As if all that weren't enough, she can't get married because her 600-year-old boyfriend, Thierry, is in a centuries-long marriage of convenience he can't escape. As Sarah's nightwalker tendencies make her more dangerous, even to those she loves, she'll have to counteract that curse, unmask the increasingly intriguing Red Devil, and get a commitment from her man. But if that's what it takes to secure her happiness, Sarah is ready...even if it means embracing her inner vamp to do it.

Stakes and Stilletto's is the 4th installment in the Immortality bites series.
It is hard to believe that all the books take place in a 10 week time frame!
Poor Sara has gotten herself into a mess this time! All She wanted to do is go to her high school reunion, with her gorgeous 600-year-old boyfriend. Add to the mix a mysterious stranger. Vampire hunters. An angry ex class mate that just happens to be a witch. And her Thierry's wife..

This book is packed full of twists and turns.
I love a book that isn't predictable.

Thierry melted my heart in this one.

I cant wait for TALL, DARK & FANGSOME!! Which will sadly be the last in the series.

If you love Vampire's and you haven't already checked out this series, you should.
My rating: YYYY of 5 Y's " I Really Liked It!"

Pride By Rachel Vincent

I love love love this book!

Third in the were cat shifter books.

Here's hoping cats do have nine lives I’m on trial for my life. Accused of infecting my human ex-boyfriend—and killing him to cover up the crime. I’m not guilty. But tell that to the panel of Alphas sitting in judgment. Infecting a human is one of three capital offenses recognized by the Pride—along with murder and disclosure of our existence to a human.I’m two for three. A goner.

On top of that, Marc is in danger of being tossed from the Pride, then we discovered a rogue stray terrorizing the mountainside, hunting a wild teenage tabbycat. I think I can protect her from both the ambitious rogue and the scheming of the territorial council.

Faythe is a headstrong act before you think kind of gal. Marc is her left at the alter ex-boyfriend, who just happens to be her fathers (the alpha) right hand man/ top enforcer. Ms Vincent builds a complex character in Faythe who is both the somewhat spoiled and pampered daughter with a strong independent streak and her tough Alpha-father's daughter in every way.

Faythe is realistically torn between her rebellion and her loyalties. Her dilemma is understandable to any woman that hasn't fit into the traditional mold of their society. Faythe has no intention of settling down and starting a family.

With the shortage of female werecats her family and the council have just about had enough of her rebellion. Faythe now on trial for her life and could loose her beloved freedom... forever...... She must now convince the council that she didn't bite and infect her former boyfriend with the were cat virus on purpose. Then kill him to cover it up.

With a very strong back story of were cat politics coming in to play.. You will be in for a wild ride.. a few tears.. and a few major OMG moments!

Ms Vincent's writing gets stronger and stronger as you read. So even if you start the first book and you want to give Faythe a big 'ol smack ( I sure wanted to). Give this series a try. You wont regret it..

Raiting.. outta 5 Y's
